Before Performance Questions

Do I need to purchase tickets?
Yes, everyone needs a wristband ticket besides the dancers sitting on laps/backstage and children the age of 2 and under, this includes parents of dancers as well. For tickets, we use wristbands to allow a quicker entry time. Everyone must be wearing their wristband upon entry! Make sure to hand out wristbands to your friends and family prior to performance or we will not be able to let them in.

IF YOUR DANCER PLANS ON SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE  THEY MUST SIT ON A LAP A WRISTBAND MUST BE BOUGHT FOR THEM SO WE CAN ENSURE THE AMOUNT OF SEATS NEEDED TO BE RESERVED.

When do I purchase wristbands and how?

All wristbands must be bought through the website shop (danceographyofutica.com/shop), wristbands will not be sold in the studio. We recommend buying them as soon as possible! Please ensure you are purchasing wristbands for the correct show.

Will wristbands be available at the door?
If we haven't sold out yet. They will be $15, exact cash only. Please plan ahead as we cannot ensure you will be able to get in. Wristbands will be taken off the website on Thursday before the performance.

Can I return wristbands if I bought too many?

We will not accept any return of wristbands. You can resell them on the parents Facebook page.

Does my dancer need tights or shoes?

Anyone above the age of 5 is highly recommended to wear tights! If they are only in hip hop, then they probably don't need them. Please buy them on our shop page to ensure you are getting the correct ones! For shoes, we recommend turners for lyrical/jazz, pink (no-tie) ballet shoes for ballet if they would prefer and barefoot for hip hop/creative movement. Please make sure dancers are practicing in any shoes they would like to wear for performance. If they don't already practice in shoes then they do not need to purchase any for the performance. You can purchase any shoe in studio on on our shop page.

Does my dancer need a certain hairstyle or make-up?

Nope! As long as the kids hair is back and secured! Make-up can be up to you! A little lip gloss, blush and mascara is always a good touch on stage!

During Performance Questions

When and how should we arrive?
Please arrive no earlier than a half hour before your child dances. No one will be let in until a half hour before the performance starts. You can change into your costume there but please have your hair and make-up done prior to arriving.

Can I take photos and video tape?
Yes, you are more than welcome to take photos and video tape! Please be aware not to post any photos or videos of other children without their consent. We will also be photographing and video taping.

If my dancer performs closer to the end of the show or is only in one number in the beginning, do we have to be stay?
No but we encourage you to! We know children get antsy so you can leave after your number or arrive 30 mins before your number and be able to enjoy the day!

Is there an opening number or finale?
Each year we choose a song to embrace for our performance. This year’s song is "Rise” from Calum Scott.  Before the performance starts, the teachers will go on stage and lead a group stretch while all the dancers will stay in the audience and follow along. At the end of the performance, we will do a group cool down where all of the dancers will be welcomed on stage at that moment to join all the teachers.

Does my dancer stay with me or are they staying somewhere else?

They can stay with you! We have recreated the normal recital space in a way that is more family friendly and makes the kids feel more comfortable. Please try to ask/email/Facebook any questions ahead of time. Ms Tess and the teachers will not be able to answer any questions the day of. There will be a variety of volunteers with name tags that you can ask and will direct you to someone who would know.

Venue Questions

Will there be food sold?

No, food will not be sold or able to be brought into the auditorium

Will there be gifts sold?

Yes, we will have small gifts that are able to be sold and wrapped

Danceography recital 2022 was a highlight of our year. It was a wonderful celebration of all the dancers hard work and a time to be together after so many instances of being separate. Our family loved the venue. It fit the vibe of a dance studio that lifts up and empowers children while taking into consideration their many needs. The dressing room was accessible and never over crowded. The stage made it so that you could see all the dances from basically anywhere at the venue. My favorite part of the recital is the kids being able to watch and support each other (instead of being backstage). The drinks & food were a definite hit for all of *****’s supporters who came to watch. My boys had a blast with the other siblings and even watched their sister. From start to finish it was a beautiful day.
